I have found that I can update and track my target goals as I travel around.
Downtime it's called. Not so downtime for me.
An idea pops up and I can record it. Better yet I can place it where it belongs in the overall scheme of things.
Yes, there is a grand scheme. We refer to it as the 100DC.
Tracking is good and also frightening, which turns into motivation.
Not for the faint of heart.

It doesn't feel like Halloween.
Not downtown Chicago. Yet.
With so much going on. The economic situation. The elections. The weather. The changes.
Who has time to dress up?
Well, walking through Daley Plaza in Chicago, I caught a glimpse on an orange water fountain that was particularly attractive.
There is some celebration going on.
As I walked by, two men were talking, one said to the other, "You could vote early, you know. I'm doing that and I'm telling the Republicans to vote on Wednesday, November 5th."

Coaching is about risks. Coaching is about getting & having clients. Coaching is about networking. Coaching is playing the game every day. So it surprised me when on a conference call, the moderator asked me to take over a portion of the session. The surprise was hearing my own voice saying, "Yes, be happy to.." A part of me was not that happy to do it. However, at the conclusion of the session, I felt that bold opportune feeling again to invite the participants to be coached by me on their business. I was then feeling happy and bolder. Then, later that day, came an invitation from an associate to attend a local Chamber event. Boldness is contagious. I jumped at the chance to meet people. Momentum is contagious. Getting to the Chamber event early, I met a few people that made me feel welcomed. My boldness increased. It so happened that this boldness put me on the same table, at the front of the room, of one of the Sponsors. I met the president of that company and made numerous connections. I also met the publisher of a business magazine and invited me to write occasional articles for them. I could, at least, submit them. I know my stories will continue from this.. It's a guide that I use with myself and clients to reflect on.
The smells of the city could only be made complete by the smells produced by food vendors.
This picture of a strudels vendor at Daley Plaza in Chicago with the background of the great Picasso sculpture caught my interest. My interest was in getting a strudel as I was on my way to a meeting. I continued walking instead.
Then the smells of the sausage vendor caught my scent as I still watched the strudel stand.
There was a smells mismatch that I experienced at that moment.
I just noticed and hurried on.
How does this happen?
My target weight is 148 lb. and now I'm at 188 lb. and rising!
The stock market should do this well..
I could attribute this to family visits, (5) pizzas, and sedentary living & visiting.
Or I could be unrealistic?
Of so many places in Chicago to dine and lounge in, there is one that stands out. Amano's.
The atmosphere is open and multi leveled.
The kitchen is also open and bustling with energy and smells.
Matt and Juan know me by a handshake and welcome me and my friends and my family.
I could even call it my hangout, right about their evening special hour.
Now, if I could start writing my daily journal here, using the wi-fi, drinking sparkling water (the new coffee), and snacking, then I will be on my journey.

Leftover chocolate wedding cake is welcomed from a sentimental viewpoint.
It also can make a simple, and quick snack at lunch time.
But enough is enough!
In the garbage can it goes, before my wife gets home. She has a love/hate relationship with chocolate. It's better that it's not around at all.
So Cake in the Can it is!
No mess, no fuss, no smells.
Game over.

It's always great practice to view the before and after, the start and finish, and the night and day of life.
..and so it goes, one night to day, at a time.

Must be the age that we are going through..economically.
Some of you may think that you have a rough day at work.
How about putting in a rough day's work, getting beaten up.
For free!
My own sessions are becoming more attractive, as compared to this.

ps. The line to get in to see this started hours before the event and wrapped around the block.
Having free sessions may make sense, after all, for getting noticed.
Most of the time there is more energy at the beginning of a workout.
It's more crowded with people usually.
The rewards for completing may be clear or fuzzy depending on the moment.
Those that maintain consistent training tend to have the bigger picture in mind.
I find that going through the different routines, in itself, are rewards. Some I do better. Some I noticed that I've declined.
..and the finish itself is quiet, sometimes solitary.
The rewards, at the moment, seem distant.
The payoff usually comes later.

Announcing the launching of the Smellers Club!
Objective: To acquire different smells of all kinds. The individual member may choose whether that smell is pleasant or otherwise. Consumption is not a requirement and it could be food smells, plant smells or anything that you find interesting to share with us.
Participation: Open to everyone. Willingness to provide their own feedback.
Current Membership: My wife and I (just 2 so far).
Sample smell story:
In Chicago, on any given day, Chocolate smells permeate throughout the downtown area in most mornings and evenings. I don't know what causes the timing of this, however, it is inconsistent enough to tantalize the smelling senses.
Having visited the source of the smells, Bloomer, we have bought the chocolate for "others."
Here's what I've discovered: Once you smell it, you don't have to consume it!

I noticed the other day that I have to adjust this motivation rule.
For those that are paying attention to this:
First rule of Motivation: Have physical energy and be well rested.
Important missing rule from before: Apply face lotion, not to much, but just enough to ease the stiffness on the face, especially after a full night's sleep.
Next rule: Laugh out loud, and often.
There, I feel complete in sharing this with the team.
But please don't attempt this and leave out any of the steps.

Setting goals, targets & outcomes are determined in many ways.
Thought I would share my calculations for obtaining 13 clients in my 100DC.
I expect my 100DC ride to be emotional, with daily practices & to be lucky enough to be heading in the right direction.
