What Makes a Good Business Opportunity

The requirements often mentioned are a good foundation for a business opportunity: "coherent, achievable and motivating" and "The person, the right idea, the planning, the timing and the courage".

Yet, the difference between success and demise is very subtle and fundamental.

It's a dynamic business model.

A business has a greater potential for succeeding when it has a model that is continuously adapted and refined to changing conditions.

With a business model, the possibilities of the business and the gaps that exist become obvious so that adjustments are made prior to investing tremendous amounts of time, talent, energy and resources.

With any business endeavor and idea, my clients and I now use the clarity of a business model to determine its value, where to adjust and whether to proceed.

Business modeling is the art where business planning is the science.

On listening

I liked the phrases: Slow listening. Deep listening. Clean listening.

Initially.

Then, I thought that Soft Listening resonates more for me.

This comes from first having Soft Eyes.

Soft Eyes, as you may know, comes from a physical state first. It's the act of softening the eyes. The same physical eye relaxation required to view a three dimensional picture.

Once the physiology is relaxed and attentive, then the listening is easier and more natural. Soft Listening happens.

Soft Heart flows next. That's when empathy and acceptance occurs.

It's when I've followed this sequence: Soft Eyes, Soft Ears, Soft Heart,  that I have been at my best.
